Mayday Quadworks - pNut:

As of 7-1-2020 the pNut will no longer ship with the rear LED.  The LED can be purchased separately in the Frame Parts section of the store.

The pNut is a purpose built 2.5" frame which was bred for racing.  What sets the pNut apart from the typical "toothpick" is the thick 3mm main plate, the heavy duty canopy, the extra camera protection, and the lack of a weak 2mm standoff.  The pNut is designed to take major abuse while keeping the weight down to 55g AUW (without batt).

Print your own parts:

All the current and future TPU parts will be available for free on my Thingiverse page:  https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3921693.  If you know of my 3D design work, you'll know that I like to mod canopies.  Because the pNut is my own frame, and one of my favorites, I plan on releasing a whole smorgasbord of canopies and parts for it in the near future.

Specs:

  • Dry Weight:  15.5g
  • Size: 75mm x 90mm stretch
  • Motor to motor size:  117mm
  • Prop size:  2.5" or 65mm
  • Typical AUW (no batt):  55g
  • Flight stack mounting:  16x16 only
  • Camera size:  Nano 14mm x 14mm
  • Motor mounting:  Standard M2 x 9mm 4 hole pattern

Custom TPU Parts and Colors:

The pNut is available in the shown colors.  I do not keep a large stock of each color so it may be possible that orders within the same day may have depleted your chosen color.  In that case your canopy will be printed that evening and ship out the next day.  Optional printed parts like arm guards, led mounts, and battery mounts are printed when ordered.  They will typically be printed that night and shipped the following business day.

Components List:

  • 16x16 ESC and Flight Controller:  There are several ESC/FC/VTX combos available through popular retailers.  The iFlight Succex Micro, GepRC, Diatone Mamba, and HGLRC Micro are all available in 16x16 and are available through popular retailers such as Pyrodrone and Race Day Quads.
  • Receivers:  TBS Crossfire Nano, Spektrum SRXL2 Micro (SPM4650),  Fullspeed FSD-Nano DSMX or Frsky.  Other nano sized receivers are also available.
  • Motors: 1103 10000kv would be the motor size and kv that are highly recommended.  If you want that more responsive bottom end, the 1103 8000kv would be ideal, however, you do lose some top speed. NOTE: A motor 4 hole screw pattern is required.  The frame does not support a 3 bolt pattern.
  • Camera:  The Runcam Nano 2 and Caddx Eos2 would be the camera of choice.  Other nano cameras of the same size will also work.  What will not work is large nano cameras such as the Foxeer Predator 4 Nano.  It is just too dam long.

  • Batteries: Any 2s 450mah - 550mah if you are running the typical "toothpick" 1103 10000kv setup.
  • Props: 2" to 2.5" or 65mm

Mayday's Recommended Components:

  • 16x16 ESC and Flight Controller:  The iFlight Succex Micro 16x16 has been my go to flight stack for this frame.  I've had zero failures and the price is very cheap at $42.99.The components are also available for purchase separately if a single component fails.  The GepRC stack is just a few $$$ cheaper and is very similar.  I've had good luck running that GepRC stack too.
  • Motors: iFlight XING 1003 10000kv just cause they are the nicest looking but are also the most expensive at $14 each.  I also run other $10 motors such as the iFlight Beemotor 1103 10000kv,  Brother Hobby 1103, and the Racerstar 1103.  They all perform well and I would recommend any of them.  There are a lot of other 1103 motors available so don't limit yourself to my opinionated list.
  • Camera:  The Runcam Nano 2 or Caddx Eos2.  You can't go wrong with either choice.
  • Batteries:  It's really up to you on this one.  I personally like the GNB 2s 450mah because Pyrodrone sells them cheap.
  • Props:  HQ 65mm biblades and call it a day.  They are the smoothest performing prop hands down and are cheaper than dirt.
  • LED:  The pNut comes with a dipole antenna/led mount on the rear standoff.  The led mount is specifically designed for the NEOPIXEL RGB LED and can be purchased separately at:
